Xiaomi VP shared video of the upcoming 64MP Redmi phone under mass production.

The short clip shows the phone being assembled at one of the companies factories with a clear look at the camera module.

Also noticeable is the absence of a pop-up module for the front camera which indicates Redmi will go for a waterdrop notch

While Redmi has confirmed it is working on a 64MP camera smartphone that will be launched in Q4 this year, we now have a glance at the innards of the upcoming smartphone thanks to a video shared by Xiaomi VP Lu Weibing that shows the phone being mass produced.

Things to note from the video is that the smartphone is already under mass production, which indicates Xiaomi is aiming for a wider rollout and availability instead of keeping it restricted to the Chinese market. The short clip shows the phone being assembled at one of the companies factories with a clear look at the camera module. Interestingly, it will be a quad-camera smartphone, with the fourth sensor placed on the right side.

Also noticeable is the absence of a pop-up module for the front camera which indicates Redmi will go for a waterdrop notch.

The 64MP camera can be clearly seen to be larger than the others, evidence of the large surface area of the sensor. The camera sensor is manufactured by Samsung and is called the ISOCELL Bright GW1. It’s 1/1.72” in size and houses 64 million 0.8micron pixels, which combines four pixels into one to capture better low-light photos.

As of now, nothing more is known about the upcoming Redmi phone except for the details revealed in the video, and the fact that it won’t be the only 64MP phone to launch in the next quarter. Realme has also announced a quad-camera smartphone with the 64MP camera at the heart of it. Realme has revealed the phone will be ready for launch before Diwali. No such timeline has been promised by Redmi in India.
