Oppo has sent out invites for an event on April 5, during which it will launch a ‘new camera phone’, which we expect to be the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus smartphones. Oppo Mobile India teased the upcoming devices on Twitter, stating, “The most dazzling and eye- catching finish, that will make heads turn. Coming Soon! #SelfieExpert #Ceramic.” The two devices were launched in China on March 17, and the highlight of both are their cameras. The Oppo R9 comes with a 13MP rear and 16MP front camera, while the R9 Plus comes with 16MP cameras on the front and back.
The Oppo R9 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 SoC with 4GB of RAM. The device comes with 64GB of storage and a 2850mAh battery pack. The R9 Plus comes with a larger, 6-inch Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC with 4GB RAM. The device is equipped with a 4120mAh battery and is available in 64GB and 128GB storage variants. The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus have fingerprint sensors, and run ColorOS 3.0 custom UI based on Android Lollipop v5.1.
