HIGHLIGHTS

The Oppo A59 will sell in China from June 18, onwards.

The Oppo A59 has officially been announced in China, and will be sold from June 18 onwards. At the heart of the phone, there’s a MediaTek MT6570 SoC, with an octa core Cortex-A53 CPU, running at 1.8GHz and a Mali-T860 GPU. The phone ships with an 5.5 inch IPS display, running at 1080×1920 pixels.

The phone has 3GB of RAM, which is more or less a norm these days. It comes with 32 GB of in-built flash storage, along with a micro-SD card slot, for further memory expansion. Imaging wise, the phone has a 13MP Camera on the back that can record 1080p clips, and a 5MP front facing camera. However, the smartphone still runs Android 5.1, with Oppo’s own ColorOS 3.0 running on top.

In terms of connectivity, the phone comes with Dual band WiFi 802.11 with a/b/g/n/ support, Bluetooth 4.1 and a FM radio. The phone has a traditional Micro USB port and not the new Type-C, which we have seen on phones like the LeEco Le 2, Moto Z and more. It’s worth pointing out that the phone is only 7.3mm thin and runs on a 3,075mAh battery.

The Oppo A59 launched in China for 1799 Yuan, which is roughly Rs. 18,000. Although there hasn’t been any word for a launch in India yet, we will probably see it in the months to come. The company had also recently launched the Oppo F1 Plus in India.
