OnePlus brand ambassador Robert Downey Jr on Huawei controversy: ‘Time to upgrade my assistant’
HIGHLIGHTS

Robert Downey Jr promotes OnePlus 7 Pro in a comeback tweet.

He earlier posted about the OnePlus 7 Pro via huawei P30 Pro.

The actor is the brand ambassador of the OnePlus 7 Pro.

About four days after OnePlus brand ambassador Robert Downy Jr (RDJ) mistakenly posted about the OnePlus 7 Pro on his Weibo account using Huawei's flagship P30 Pro smartphone, the actor has owned up to his mistake. “Well, I guess it’s time to upgrade my assistant to a new OnePlus 7 pro so mistakes don’t happen again,” RDJ, who plays Iron Man in Marvel movie franchise, posted on in a good-humoured style on his Weibo account.

The Weibo post, which was posted via Huawei P30 Pro, was promptly taken down, but not before screenshots of it started circulating the web. This is not the first time that a celebrity brand ambassador has been caught using a phone that is not from the company they endorse. Actor Anushka Sharma became the favourite subject of meme-makers in India. She was ‘roasted’ from all corners for sharing an image on Twitter with its caption promoting the Google Pixel 2 XL smartphone, via an iPhone.

The tweet caught the attention of famous YouTuber and web video producer Marques Brownlee (aka MKBHD). We know, nothing escapes the eagle eyes of the Twitterati. After Brownlee highlighted Anushka’s tweet, things snowballed and users starting adding to the ‘meme material’. Previously Israeli actress Gal Gadot’s Huawei Mate 10 Pro promotional image was posted ‘via Twitter for iPhone’. The ‘Wonder Woman’ star later deleted the tweet and then reposted it from an Android phone.

The OnePlus 7 Pro sports with a 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display panel with a QHD+ resolution and refresh rate of 90Hz. It is powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 855 chipset and is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. In the camera department, it sports a 48MP primary camera, a 16MP sensor with wide-angle lens and a third 8MP telephoto camera. The front-facing pop-up mechanism houses a 16MP camera. The phone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery.
