According to the video, the upcoming phone may have a 6-inch screen, a 7.82mm thick body, and standard microUSB slot instead of USB Type-C
A video showing 3D renders of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus has been released by uSwitch. The information about the phone is provided by @OnLeaks, and are based on blueprints supplied to third-party accessory manufacturers ahead of a phone’s launch. These blueprints are used to ensure that the cases released by these manufacturers are compatible with the new phone.
According to the video, the Galaxy S7 Plus will come with a slightly rounded metal frame in comparison to the Samsung Galaxy S6. uSwitch says that the upcoming phone may have a 6-inch screen, and may be 163.40mm tall and 82mm wide, which justified the ‘Plus’ tag. The phone is also tipped to be 7.82mm thick. The camera module at the back of the phone protrudes slightly, and may house Samsung’s BRITECELL camera sensor, which was unveiled last month. BRITECELL camera technology allows for sharper and brighter images in low light conditions.
The render suggests that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S7 Plus with a standard micro-USB slot instead of a USB Type-C port. The physical Home button on the phone may also be wider and thinner than the Galaxy S6. Additionally, the render brings up the possibility that the location of the front facing camera will be changed. The SIM card slot may remain on the same side of the phone as the S6, but be a little lower than before. However, there doesn’t seem to be any slot for a microSD card, which suggests that Samsung may continue to offer their flagship devices without expandable storage.
Rumours suggest that Samsung may launch the Galaxy S7 series of smartphones in February next year. The company has also been tipped to launch multiple variants of the phone, which will be powered by different processors. One variant might be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset, while the other with Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 chipset. The upcoming phone may also be 10% cheaper than the Galaxy S6. Samsung has also filed a patent for a pressure-sensitive display similar to 3D Touch technology found on the Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Another company to introduce a pressure-sensitive display on its phone is Huawei. The company uses the technology on the Mate S, which was launched at IFA 2015.
