Apart from the new chipset, the new variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe has the same specifications as the SD820-powered variant

Asus has unveiled a new variant of ZenFone3 Deluxe that is powered by Qualcomm’s newly launched Snapdragon 821 SoC, making it the first phone to be powered by the chipset. The brand new chipset features the same quad-core Kryo CPU configuration found on the Snapdragon 820. However, in the SD820, the clock speeds in the higher performance cores are limited to 2.2GHz, while in the SD821, the cores are capable of reaching 2.4GHz.

Aside from the processor, the rest of the specifications of the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe are pretty much the same as the Snapdragon 820 powered variant. The new device also comes with a 5.7-inch Full HD display and sports 6GB of RAM. At the back is a 23MP camera with optical and electronic image stabilisation along with TriTech autofocus technology. This technology combines laser, phase detection and continuous autofocus, and the company says that this results in focusing speeds of 0.03 seconds.

Back in June, leaked promotional material had suggested that Asus was planning to launch a new variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe with the new chipset. Further, reports have also suggested that Asus may offer the new variant of the phone in India when the company launches the new generation of devices in the country.
