Leaked Galaxy S8+ prototype shows Samsung may have experimented with dual-rear cameras
The prototype suggests that the company may have tried out the camera setup, before opting to go with a standard single-rear camera setup
When leaks and rumours of the the Samsung Galaxy S8 first started pouring in, one of the features that the smartphone was expected to offer was a dual-rear camera setup. However, that was not to be and the company opted to stick with a standard single-rear camera setup in the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+. However, new photos of a prototype Galaxy S8+ suggests that the company may have at least toyed with the idea.
The images, posted by Twitter user Eldar Murtazin, suggest that Samsung may have been planning to stack the two camera sensors vertically rather than horizontally, which is used by Apple in the iPhone 7 Plus. Another thing to note is that the rear panel is missing the fingerprint sensor. It is possible that the sensor was placed under the display, similar to how the company implemented the home button. Murtazin also speculates that since the setup wasn’t used in the Galaxy S8+, it is possible that we may get to see it used in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Samsung hasn’t yet opted to use a dual-camera setup in any of its smartphones and such a setup may help the company make its flagship phablet series stand out.
