Huawei may launch smartphone with in-display camera before Samsung
HIGHLIGHTS

According to a teaser image making rounds on the internet, Huawei may release a smartphone with a punch hole camera as early as next month.

At its annual developer conference earlier this year, Samsung showcased four types of display designs that it may use in its future smartphones. One of them was the Infinity-O Display that has a punch hole on the top left corner to fit in the front camera. Samsung Galaxy A8s has been in the news lately for apparently introducing this display design, but if a teaser image making rounds on the internet is to be believed, Huawei could be the first company to launch a smartphone with this type of display under its Nova series.

Posted by famous tipster Ice Universe, the teaser image showcases a smartphone with a full-screen design having an ‘o’ cut-out in the display. The design resembles Samsung’s ‘Inifity-O’ display technology. The tipster says that both Huawei and Samsung will launch their phone in December and we’ll have to wait who will be the first to introduce this technology first. Further, a smartphone with the Infinity-O display has also been spotted in the wild.

Leaked by slashleaks, an image shows a man using a smartphone with Infinity-O type display. The phone has a thick protective cover to hide the design elements of the smartphone but the display is clearly seen having a punch hole in the top left corner. The smartphone also has headphone jack on the top edge as the person using the smartphone is seen using a pair of wired earphones which are plugged in the phone.

Although it cannot be confirmed whether the phone is an offering from Huawei or from Samsung but it confirms that there is a device with an in-display camera. As far as information on Samsung’s offering is concerned, the South Korean company is expected to launch the Galaxy A8s that it teased at the launch of the Galaxy A9 in China. The smartphone is said to be a mid-range smartphone and will reportedly have an LCD display.

The camera cutout in the Galaxy A8s' display will reportedly be 6.7mm and it is speculated that the Galaxy S10 will have a smaller 2-3mm cutout. The Samsung Galaxy A8s may be powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset and have 6GB RAM, and a 3,000mAh battery. The press renders show vertically aligned three cameras on the back like they are in the Galaxy A7 (2018). There is a small LED flash under the camera module and an elliptical fingerprint sensor in the middle. It’s assumed that the Galaxy A8s will have an 8MP 120-degree Ultra Wide Lens, a 5MP depth-sensing camera and a third 24MP camera on the back, and a 24MP sensor on the front.
