The Windows Phone version of the HTC One M8 retains the same specifications of the Android variant
HTC has officially introduced the Windows Phone version of its flagship smartphone One M8. Called 'HTC One M8 for Windows', the smartphone runs the latest Windows Phone 8.1 and is powered by 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM.
The HTC One M8 for Windows measures 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35 mm and weighs around 160g. It has a 5-inch 1080p display. The One M8 for WP features 4MP Ultrapixel dual-camera setup featuring BSI sensor, pixel size 2.0 um, sensor size 1/3”, f/2.0, 28mm lens, HTC ImageChip 2 and 1080p Full HD video recording. It has a 5MP front-camera featuring BSI sensor, wide angle lens, HDR and 1080p Full HD video recording.
The One M8 for Windows Phone has 32GB built-in storage with expansion card slot supports microSD card for up to 128GB additional storage. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone supports 3G, LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX enabled, Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), micro-USB 2.0 port and consumer infrared remote control. The One M8 for Windows also comes with Window Phone's exclusive features such as virtual assistant Cortana and Live Tiles. The smartphone has gone on sale in the US for a promotional price of $99.99 with a two-year contract. Thus far, HTC hasn't revealed information on the global availability and pricing of the smartphone.
HTC's new Windows Phone One M8 is arguably one of the best smartphones based on Microsoft's operating system so far. What makes the smartphone special is the retention of the same high-end specifications of the Android variant. HTC's new smartphone is set to give much needed push to the Windows Phone platform. It will be really interesting to see if other smartphone players such as Sony and Samsung bring out with Windows Phone version of their flagship smartphones in the near future.
