A study by Pornhub also shows that mobile phones are now the prefered method of visiting its website with more than 60% visitors accessing it through mobiles.
For a few minutes, let’s forget about which smartphone OS has the best UI, or best apps, or even the best phones. Let’s talk about porn, at least the way we access it. According to a study by Pornhub, Android users edge out their iOS counterparts when it comes to Pornhub’s traffic. According to the website, 32% visit the site using Android while 31% use iOS. And this is just a small portion of the results the study came up with.
As per its study, nearly 88% of its visitors used to access the website using a desktop back in 2010 (you know, big screen and all?). Now, that number has dwindled down and mobile phones users constitute a lion’s share of its visitors (on the move yo!). Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) the study also shows that we Indians are a very active bunch (in case you still needed proof). India is ranked number three on the list of mobile OS traffic shares. The list is topped by the US and UK. In light of the recent porn ban imposed in India, the adage, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink,” comes to mind (so that's why they couldn't ban porn here!).
One of the interesting results of the study show both iOS and Android users have similar usage patterns (tastes?), at least when it comes to 'pornstars' (PornHub said pornstars so we went with it). Viewers on both sides of the fence prefer watching Mia Khalifa, Lisa Ann, and Kim Kardashian. So if peace has to be brokered between the two factions, this is possibly the way to start the process. Indo-Canadian Sunny Leone, is ranked number four in the list of most searched porn stars amongst Android users. Not very surprising when you consider 71% of smartphone users in India use Android and we are ranked number three globally.
The study also says that iOS users spend the least amount of time visiting Pornhub on average, as compared to Android and other platforms, and also view the least number of pages per visit. Users of other operating systems spend the most amount of time on average, but are edged out by Android users in the number of pages visited during each visit. Well of course right? I mean, imagine using IE to view so many pages on a Windows Phone, or using the Jolla OS, which you know nothing about! The emoticon :O comes to mind, right?
