BlackBerry's much talked about smartphone – BlackBerry Passport – has officially launched in India. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 49,990 and is available for pre-order via Amazon. The BlackBerry Passport will be available starting October 10.

The BlackBerry Passport has already grabbed wide attention because of its unique form factor. The smartphone has a 4.5-inch display with a 1440×1440 resolution. It runs the latest BlackBerry 10.3 OS. Other important features of the Passport include a quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 64GB via microSD.

The smartphone has a 13MP rear camera with BSI sensor and 2MP front facing camera. The Passport is powered by a 3450 mAh battery.

BlackBerry has been making all out efforts to make a comeback in the smartphone business. While some of its recent smartphones did get appreciated, it's uncertain how the new Passport performs in the Indian market. However, BlackBerry is trying to woo the business users with a number of enterprise centric features.

So far, the device has received mixed reviews with many praising the design, resolution and viewing angles. However, it has also been criticised for being uncomfortable to carry in a pocket or use one-handed. Also read: BlackBerry Passport: Will the square phone work?
