BlackBerry Classic to debut in November
BlackBerry Classic will be launched in November, confirms CEO John Chen.
In a recent interview, BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen has revealed that the BlackBerry Q20 Classic will be launched in November this year, although he did not mention any official date.
In the interview with USA Today, Chen said that the BlackBerry Classic will feature a QWERTY keyboard and a 3.5-inch touchscreen. He added that the model will include some traditional function keys of the older versions like a Menu button, Back, Send and End buttons that will be placed above the display screen. Chen also said that they are working on providing a better battery life than the previous BlackBerry handsets. BlackBerry Classic will run on Blackberry 10 OS. He added that the model will be “very productive and very secure.”
“We’re going to return the familiar user experience in the handsets business,” Chen told USA Today. “There’s a new product called the BlackBerry Classic that’s coming out. It’s an updated and enhanced version of one of our most popular and successful products called the Bold. It will include a keyboard and a good touch-screen, very fast Internet, web-browsing capability and multimedia capability. But also, it will be very productive and very secure. So, all the familiar things that people love, with some new technology updated. That will come out in November along with the server that helps companies manage devices.”
BlackBerry had first announced the BlackBerry Q20 Classic along with the BlackBerry Z3 at the MWC 2014. Both the devices will run Blackberry’s latest 10.2 OS. The Blackberry Z3 will feature a 5-inch touchscreen display and is expected to be launched in May this year.
