Asus ZenFone AR with Google Tango and Daydream may be launched on June 14 in Taiwan
The phone was first showcased at CES 2017 in January and is the first device to offer 8GB of RAM
It seems like Asus’ ZenFone AR smartphone will finally be launched on June 14. According to a media invite posted by MobileXpose, the launch event will be held in Taiwan. The Asus ZenFone AR was unveiled back at CES 2017 in January, and was not only the first smartphone to offer 8GB of RAM, but is currently the only device to offer Google’s Tango and Daydream platform. Thereby offering Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality features in a single device. It is not yet known if or when the device will come to India.
The ZenFone AR sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display and is powered by by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 platform. The device is available with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of unbuilt storage. At the back of the device are three camera, a 23MP primary camera, a depth sensing camera, and a motion tracking camera. These three cameras work together to help the device understand its surroundings and add virtual objects in the real world. However, the phone isn’t the first device to come with Google’s Tango platform. That would be the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, which started shipping in November last year. The device was launched in India in January at a price of Rs. 29,999. The device also has two cheaper variants called the Lenovo Phab 2 and the Phab 2 Plus. Both these variants to not come with Google Tango.
