Apple

Currently, Apple does not procure the necessary camera module component for its iPhones from India. If it partners with either of these companies, then this will change. However, there is still a lot of time before this can happen. According to Economic Times, it can take another five-six months before the deal gets finalised.

If we talk about the two companies in question, the Murugappa Group has leverage over Titan and can be the first choice. It has a huge portfolio which ranges from auto parts and abrasives to Moshine Electronics’ which is known for expertise in camera module manufacturing. On the other hand is Tata Group’s Titan. Tata Group is already in partnership with Apple for other Indian operations. Titan, specifically, manufactures watches and jewelry.

All this is part of Apple’s overall plan to localise production and make a stronger supply chain in India. It also aims to address the critical operational challenges by localising the production of camera modules.
