Analyst, Pan Jiutang believes that the 4-inch device was a one-off and notes that most manufacturers will want to hit the 5.5-inch mark this year

Bad news for anyone waiting for a powerful yet compact iPhone as Apple may not be working on a new version of the iPhone SE. According to analyst, Pan Jiutang, the 4-inch smartphone was a one-off and those looking for a 4-inch iOS device, should look towards the old iPhone SE or even the 5c. As for future devices, Jiutang says that most manufacturers will want to hit the 5.5-inch mark.

Back in May, leaked images of rear panels had hinted that the company may be planning to launch a 2017 version of the smartphones. The image suggested that the company may have been planning to switch to glass from the metal finished used in the the iPhone SE.

While Apple is tipped to launch three new devices this year, none of them are expected to be the 2017 version of the iPhone SE. Two of them are supposed to be the iPhone 7s and the 7s Plus, while the third is tipped to be a tenth anniversary edition of the iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 8. This special edition of the iPhone is tipped to come with an OLED display and a bezel-less design. This designed would eliminate the home button. However, recent reports suggested that the Apple may be having trouble with some of the new technology in the phone. One of the reports suggested that the company may be having trouble implementing an under-display fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 8. Another report suggested that the company may be facing software issues with wireless charging and 3D facial recognition. It is possible that Apple disables the features during launch, and enables it later via a software update.
