Rumours of Apple planning to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack on the upcoming iPhone 7 have been going on for a while. There were also reports that the company was planning to ship the device with a standard set of EarPods along with a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter. Now, Vietnamese website tinhte.vn has posted a video as well as a few photographs of the cable. The adapter in the leaks is a short white cable with a Lightning connector in one end and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the other. As per the report, the cable was collected from a Foxconn factory in Vietnam and it isn’t supported by iOS 9, but works with iOS 10 beta. Further, when used with an iPhone with a headphone jack, the device prioritises the earphone connected via the Lightning adapter.
Previous reports have suggested that Apple may launch a pair of wireless EarPods alongside the iPhone 7. The device is tipped to be free of any wires, even between the earpods, similar to the recently launched Samsung Gear IconX. Yesterday, Evan Blass posted a tweet in which he said that the Apple iPhone 7 will be available for preorder from September 9. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were launched on the same day last year.
