Apple iPhone 18 Pro to get under-screen Face ID, all-screen iPhone expected in 2027
iPhone 18 Pro may debut under-display Face ID and a smaller front camera cutout.
Apple is said to be working on an all-screen, no-notch iPhone for 2027.
The iPhone 17 lineup could feature a new “Air” model with a thinner design.
Ahead of the iPhone 17 series launch, Apple has been in the headlines for its potential roadmap and a truly all-screen iPhone. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly set to introduce a new iPhone model in 2027 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. Unlike the other iPhones, it will be an all-glass iPhone that is said to offer a seamless front with no cutouts, not even the front camera or FaceID sensors.
SurveyWhile most of the details about the design, display, and specifications remain unknown, the design, Apple seems to be preparing for the device as it has introduced the iOS 26 with a liquid glass design. However, it seems too early to discuss the device, and readers are advised to take these updates with a grain of salt.
Furthermore, the report also added that the iPhone 18 Pro series may feature a smaller Dynamic Island. Then in 2027, the company is said to introduce a special anniversary model which could signal the company’s most ambitious design shift since the iPhone X.

Previously, Bloomberg reported that a milestone model with curved glass edges, ultra-slim bezels, and a truly edge-to-edge display would be ideal for introduction as the anniversary model.
The Information’s Wayne Ma also reported that the iPhone 18 Pro, expected in 2026, will feature under-display Face ID and only a small hole-punch camera, removing the need for the current pill-shaped Dynamic Island.
Meanwhile, Apple is expected to introduce a new lineup in September. If the reports are accurate, the iPhone 17 series could include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Ultra. It appears that Apple is repositioning the lineup, with the iPhone 17 Air replacing the iPhone 17 Plus, which may offer an ultra-slim design, and the iPhone 17 Ultra replacing the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which may offer improved performance and a new design.
