Apple is most likely gearing up to launch the iPhone 17 series this September, and leaks suggest some major changes are on the horizon. One of the biggest shifts could be in the lineup itself. Instead of the usual ‘Plus’ model, we might see an iPhone 17 Air, while the top-end Pro Max model could be rebranded as the iPhone 17 Ultra.

Design changes
The iPhone 17 Pro Max could look and feel a bit different. Apple may move away from the titanium frame seen in the 16 Pro Max and use aluminium instead. The back panel is also said to be made of a mix of glass and aluminium. Unlike the square camera bump on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the new model could feature a larger, rectangular aluminium camera setup.

Display improvements
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a new anti-reflective display. This screen is expected to be more resistant to scratches compared to the Ceramic Shield used in the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Camera upgrades
Cameras are getting a big boost with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It’s expected to feature a 48MP telephoto lens, replacing the 12MP one on the previous model. This means all three rear cameras could now be 48MP. The front camera could also get an upgrade from 12MP to 24MP.

Performance and specifications
The iPhone 16 Pro Max comes with the A18 Pro chip, but the upcoming 17 Pro Max is expected to be powered by the new A19 Pro chip. Also, the RAM is likely to increase from 8GB to 12GB.
Expected launch and price
Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone 17 Pro Max sometime between September 11 and 13, 2025. As for the price, it’s expected to stay the same as the iPhone 16 Pro Max—Rs 1,44,900 in India.
