Airtel introduces Apna Chaupal, a voice-based solution for rural India
Aimed at the rural and semi-urban market, the service allows Airtel mobile customers to easily access a host of information by dialling 58080 toll free.
Bharti Airtel has introduced a new voice-based solution portal for Value Added Services (VAS), which caters to rural and semi-urban areas of the country. Airtel subscribers can use the service, known as Apna Chaupal, to browse and subscribe from the operator’s bouquet of value added services, which includes a number of activities such as agriculture, education, health, jobs alerts and entertainment.
Subscribers can access Airtel’s Apna Chaupal service by dialling toll free number 58080 from their Airtel number. Apart from Hindi, the service supports a number of regional languages including Rajasthani, Marathi, Gujarati, Marwari, Punjabi, Haryanvi, Bengali, Oriya, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam Telugu and Assamese. Airtel says Apna Chaupal also helps subscribers learn new agricultural techniques and have updates on Mandi rates.
Moreover, subscribers can “listen to Live Aarti’s from popular religious shrines, access entertainment services like Hello Tunes, Comedy FM and radio, receive ball-by-ball updates on cricket matches, learn English, seek career counselling and much more”, the operator says in a release.
Announcing the new service, Bharti Airtel CEO (Delhi/NCR) Rohit Gothi says, “…We are happy to launch the Apna Chaupal service for our customers who can now easily avail all the relevant value added services from a single portal at 58080 without having to memorise the individual dialling numbers of each of the service.”
Airtel recently launched a mEducation service, which allows subscribers to access courses for English learning and competitive exams. The service is available on both voice IVR and SMS format. These courses provide interactive learning in the native language of the customers. Read more about Airtel’s mEducation service here.
