HIGHLIGHTS

Apple launches the 15-inch MacBook Air at WWDC 2023.

MacBook Air 15 has been priced at ₹1,34,900.

Let's see if it makes sense for a 15-inch MBA within the Apple laptop roster.

At WWDC 2023, Apple launched a new MacBook Air with a 15-inch screen. Here we see if it makes sense for you to consider it, especially compared to the prices of the MacBook Air 13 and MacBook Pro.

Apple MacBook Air 15 price and should you buy?

Apple has priced the MacBook Air 15 at ₹134,900.

That puts it very close to MacBook Pro 13, which is currently available for ₹1,34,990 on Croma. You may be able to grab it for an even lower price on some other site or as part of some deal.

Meanwhile, the 13-inch MacBook Air M1 and MacBook Air M2 come at a starting price of ₹79,990 (Amazon) and ₹1,07,990 (Croma) respectively.

Those two models are still great laptops at the price they are retailing in the country.

So if you are price sensitive, then you could consider either of the 13-inch models. If you want a more powerful laptop, the MacBook Pro 13 (with M2 SoC), as you have seen, is present at a price point not so far from the newcomer.

Not to forget the Apple M3 processor is in queue next and once it launches, the 15-inch MacBook Air will have one more competitor from its family.

So, the new MacBook Air could be a tough sell for price-conscious buyers.

That said, there are still reasons to consider the 15-inch MacBook Air and here are they:

Reasons to consider Apple MacBook Air 15

The prime reason to consider the new 15-inch MacBook Air is its bigger screen.

The 15.3-inch Liquid Retina Display is said to offer 25-percent larger real estate than the 13-inch MBA. It still sports 500 nits of brightness and DCI-P3 colour gamut support.

The visuals will be backed by a 6-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support and a 2x stronger bass claim.

Now you may wonder if a bigger display device should be having more space for a bigger battery. Well, that's not true, unfortunately. The comforting news is however that this one boasts 18 hours of battery life which is the same as its 13-inch counterpart. Pros and regular folks unanimously laud the battery life endowed by M-series laptops. As a bonus, you are also getting the 35W dual port adapter with this machine's box.

It is not that heavy at 1.5 kgs and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2x Thunderbolt (USB-C) ports and a MagSafe charging socket.
