X Chat gets WhatsApp-like typing indicators, emoji reactions and other features

Elon Musk-owned X, formerly known as Twitter, has rolled out several new features to improve its direct messaging platform. Many of these features are similar to WhatsApp. In the latest update, the social media platform has added typing indicators, emoji reactions, @mentions, chat search, and improved DM controls. With the latest update, users can actually see when someone’s replying in real time, similar to other messaging platforms like Messenger and WhatsApp.

Additionally, it has added Emoji reactions, allowing users to quickly respond to a message with a thumbs-up, heart, laugh, or other emoji, similar to WhatsApp, Instagram, or iMessage. This will make conversation fun.

Another newly added feature is @mention someone in group chats. This will allow users to tag a particular user directly in busy group threads.

Furthermore, X has also added a message divider to break up long chats visually, and a search function to help you quickly find specific messages or conversations. Plus, there are now better controls over who can message you, including the option to block DMs from someone without having to block their entire profile.

Recently, Musk has also announced end-to-end encryption, vanishing messages, file sharing, and voice/video calling features for X chat. In a previous post, Musk said that X Chat gets a “whole new architecture” with “Bitcoin-style encryption” to keep chats private.
