Google is quietly rolling out a new look for the Gemini homepage on Android to offer a more polished and user-friendly interface. The new design has decluttered the space below the prompt bar by moving the features like Canvas and Deep Research into a new “Tools” bottom sheet. Users can now find these tools beside the familiar ‘plus’ (+) button. Although it’s a small tweak, it does make the interface look clean and arranged. Additionally, Google has removed the brief descriptions that used to appear alongside the tool names.

What’s more interesting, though, is a new guide aimed at helping users learn how to use Gemini’s tools. Further, Gemini don’t give generic suggestions like “Tell me what you can do” anymore. Now, it opens with a friendly “How can I help?”.
Apart from these, Gemini’s functionalities have been grouped under three clear sections: Write, Build, and Research.
Tap Write, and you’ll get prompts like writing a thank-you note or summarising Catch-22 for kids. Build offers fun project ideas like creating a fireworks generator or a photography portfolio website, and Deep search offers deeper queries like planning a foodie trip to Japan or comparing family phone plans.
Right now, the update hasn’t rolled out widely. It’s currently showing up in the Google app beta on select accounts, and some features like the revamped navigation drawer haven’t hit the stable version yet.
This update comes just days after Google introduced Gemini Drops, a new page that highlights the latest features and experiments.
Meanwhile, the Gemini app has crossed 450 million monthly active users globally, with India having the highest number of users. The AI tool is integrated with Pixel phones, Chrome, and Google Messages.
