OpenAI will pay developers for posting models on its new GPT store: Know more
HIGHLIGHTS

Previously, OpenAI introduced a GPT store something similar to an app store for reference.

Developers could also benefit by earning money by creating custom GPT models.

They are expected to be paid based on the usage of their GPTs.

With the artificial intelligence revolution that we’re witnessing, OpenAI seems to be on the top of its game. Various leading tech giants today are trying to achieve what OpenAI, a relatively younger business, has achieved. With the success of its platform ChatGPT in its kitty, OpenAI seems to be going places. Not so long ago, the company introduced a GPT store, something similar to an app store for reference.

What is the OpenAI GPT store?

The GPT store would enable developers to showcase their products to a global audience and at the same time, it would even provide developers with access to a diverse range of GPTs. And now, OpenAI is taking this up a notch by announcing that it is currently working on a payment model for GPT builders.

Taking to X, the company said, “We’re partnering with a small group of US builders to test usage-based GPT earnings. Our goal is to create a vibrant ecosystem where builders are rewarded for their creativity and impact and we look forward to collaborating with builders on the best approach to get there.”

This means that the GPT store can roll out sooner than we think. And if the payment model strikes through, then developers will benefit by earning money by creating custom GPT models.

How will the payment plan work?

Well, the closest bet is that, just like a usual app store, developers will be paid based on the usage of their GPTs. The more their GPTs get used, the more they earn.

But since AI is a newer concept, OpenAI is also dealing with its fair share of problems while developing the GPT store. This includes content stealing, copyrights, and even academic dishonesty. Let’s see how the company finally implements this plan.
