Motorola to roll out Android 9.0 Pie update on eight phones

Lenovo-owned Motorola says that the Android Pie update to the select eight phones will start rolling out from this fall.

Motorola has been serving its users well with the stock Android OS and fuss-free features since its resurrection, but it is not the company which is known for quickly rolling out major Android updates to its devices. Moto usually rolls out OS updates to select devices and this time it has again listed eight of its smartphones that will receive the Android Pie update starting from this fall.

According to a Motorola, the Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play, Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z2 Play, Moto X4, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play will get the update. Noticeably, the company has not included the entire G5 series of smartphones in the list.

Android 9.0 Pie will bring a host features including – Intuitive Navigation and Recent Apps, an improved Do Not Disturb mode, and a colorful settings menu, adaptive battery, revamped split-screen and more, to these Moto phones. Android Pie also brings a redesigned Quick Settings, simplified volume controls, and an easy way to manage notifications. Owners of these Motorola phones models, can track the latest updates here. Earlier this month, Google officially unveiled the Android Pie OS and first rolled out the update to Pixel smartphones. But a few other smartphones, like Essential and Nokia, also received the update. Nokia officially announced later that it will release the update for eligible phones. This was followed by respective announcements from Sony and HTC that they will roll out the Android Pie update to a select number of devices.
