The lawyer uses his Facebook page to promote his practice and talk with potential clients. Over the past eight years, his account has been disabled five times. Each time, Meta’s systems flagged him for false impersonation.

“It’s not funny,” the lawyer said to 13WTHR. “Not when they take my money. This really pissed me off.”

The lawyer has spent over $11,000 on advertisements for his legal services. Even when his account is wrongly disabled, he still has to pay for those ads. In his complaint, the lawyer included a copy of a 2020 email thread in which he inquired about his wrongly disabled account, noting that he had been in contact with the platform regarding the issue since 2017.

“Also, if you happen to run into the younger, richer Mark Zuckerberg, tell him I said hi and he causes me great aggravation each day,” he wrote in one email.

Having the same name as the tech billionaire has made life complicated. He even has a website, iammarkzuckerberg.com, to explain the confusion. “I can’t use my name when making reservations or conducting business as people assume I’m a prank caller and hang up,” he said.

The lawyer has even dealt with awkward public moments. Once, a limo driver held up a sign for “Mark Zuckerberg,” which drew a crowd expecting the Meta CEO. He also receives mistaken phone calls, including death threats and requests for money.

“We know there’s more than one Mark Zuckerberg in the world, and we are getting to the bottom of this,” Meta told 13WTHR.

On his website, the lawyer wrote: “I don’t wish Mark E. Zuckerberg any ill will at all.” “I hope the best for him, but let me tell you this: I will rule the search for ‘Mark Zuckerberg bankruptcy.’ And if he does fall upon difficult financial times, and happens to be in Indiana, I will gladly handle his case in honor of our eponymy.”
