MakeMyTrip launches bus ticket bookings via SMS
Now you don't require a smartphone to make a bus ticket reservation on MakeMyTrip.
MakeMyTrip has launched a new bus ticket reservation system where mobile users can make reservations by just sending SMS. This offering is targeted towards mobile users who have basic or entry-level handsets and want to reserve tickets via SMS.
Customers need to send an SMS @mbus <From-City> <To-City> <Date-of-Travel> <No.of Passengers> to 9664896648. MakeMyTrip will give the user a choice of operators on that day & route. Users need to revert with their choice of operator. Customers are required to provide the IMPS Transaction Details and once the payment is done successfully an SMS will be sent to the customer along with an email for the reservation details.
Mr. Amit Somani, Chief Products Officer, MakeMyTrip, said on the launch:
“India is the largest market for mobile phones, with the growth in handsets-sales and new mobile connections far out-pacing sales of desktops, notebooks and new internet connections. Mobile is the perfect channel for a travel company to provide real value and service to the customer. MakeMyTrip is committed towards making the travel-buying experience seamless and convenient for the customer. We were the first Indian OTA to develop mobile travel app for the iOS which we followed with an Android app. To ensure that the non-smartphone users can also avail and experience the benefits of the mobile platform, we have developed this sms-base service for bus-ticket reservation. ”
MakeMyTrip website (www.makemytrip.com/bus-tickets/) has more than 1300 bus operators covering over 12,000 routes across India from Punbus/Punjab Roadways, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, Goa and Bihar Road Transport Corporation and Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.
