How to get macOS Tahoe

The developer beta of macOS 26 Tahoe is now available, with a public beta set to roll out next month. The final version is expected to launch later this year as a free update.

Key new features

  • Phone app: Make or receive calls, check voicemails, and use tools like Call Screening right from your Mac.
  • Live Activities: See updates like flights, deliveries, or scores in your Mac’s menu bar.
  • Spotlight: It can now handle actions like sending emails, creating notes or running shortcuts directly.
  • Apple Intelligence: Enjoy AI-powered tools like Live Translation, Genmoji, and Image Playground.
  • Shortcuts: Now work smarter with AI support.
  • Games app: A new hub for all your games with a Game Overlay for chatting, settings and invites.
  • Safari: Safari gets a fresh look with a rounded tab design that floats in the toolbar. The sidebar has also been updated with new sections, making it easier to find saved content like iCloud Tabs and Saved items.
  • Messages app: The Messages app now includes Backgrounds, Polls and a new details view to quickly see shared content. You’ll also see typing indicators in group chats to know who’s replying.
  • Journal app: Now available on Mac to help you log daily thoughts or memories across synced devices.
