Here’s what Apple may have in store for us in 2016
HIGHLIGHTS

The company may launch a number of devices like the iPhone 7, iPhone 6c, iPad Air 3, Watch 2, and a 15-inch MacBook Air in 2016

2015 was an exciting year for Apple, and it seems like 2016 will follow suit. Apple will be launching the next generation of most of its devices, like the iPhone and the iPad. Rumours suggest that the company may launch the Apple Watch 2 and the iPhone 6c, as well. A strong 2016 is very important for the company as its stock prices are currently dipping, and analysts have predicted that global smartphone sales will continue to wane. Not to mention the stiff competition it is facing from Android, and Apple is expected to go into the new year with all guns blazing.

After the launch of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus this year, Apple should launch the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in 2016. Rumours of the upcoming device suggest a major design overhaul. The new iPhone has been tipped to use a flexible OLED display. This correlates with reports that suggested Apple to have opened a new production facility in Taiwan, where it is working on OLED and Micro-LED techology. Rumours also suggested that Apple would not only ditch the 3.5mm audio jack, but also the Home button from the new iPhone. The upcoming device has also been tipped to be as thin as the iPad Air 2.

It is also possible that the company may launch the Apple Watch 2 and the iPhone 6c in March 2016. The Watch 2 is expected to support Apple’s FaceTime in addition to having built-in WiFi and health tracking features via sensors built into the band. The Apple iPhone 6c, on the other hand, will reportedly be a 4-inch variant of the iPhone 6s. However, unlike the plastic iPhone 5c, it will have a premium metallic body. In fact, rumours suggest that the only difference between the iPhone 6c and the 6s would be the screen size. The phone is expected to come with features like 3D Touch, Touch ID and Apple Pay. Not much is known about the iPad Air, though, but it is possible that it will come with 3D Touch technology.

As far as the MacBook Air is concerned, Apple has been tipped to ditch the 11-inch variant of the MacBook Air and introduce a 15-inch variant. Apple is also expected to improve the battery, chassis and cooling modules in the new laptops. It is also possible the Apple will use an improved display panel for the entire MacBook Air lineup.

There is also a marginal possibility that Apple may unveil its car next year. The vehicle would give competition to Tesla Motors, as well as Google’s self-driving car. Apple has been hiring ex-Tesla employees, and earlier this year, a mysterious van with cameras was seen driving around San Francisco. While it is unlikely that the company will launch a car in 2016, there is always “one more thing”, with Apple.
