According to a report by The Information, Google is trying to enhance the Gemini with this new addition. It is trying to partner with popular figures and create its AI chatbot. Further, it will also allow users in the future to create their own personalised chatbots by simply describing their personalities and appearance. So, bitmoji but more enhanced.
Previously, companies such as Character.ai have tried this. Meta has created also chatbots based on personalities like TikTok star Charli D’Amelio, YouTube phenomenon Mr. Beast, Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, and Paris Hilton.
If reports are to be believed, this project is headed by Ryan Germick, who is known for his work on Google Doodles, along with a team of ten. What remains unclear is which celebrities Google will choose to go with. Also, it is likely that instead of rolling this feature out for a wider audience, Google will make this available on Google Labs.
But we should keep in mind the fact that such AI chatbots from other companies have not been well received. We are not really sure if Google will be able to create any noise with this new development or not. Apart from that, we don’t know the other details yet.
