Facebook Stickers now available for web users
Now you can send Stickers from your desktop chat.
Stickers, a popular messaging feature on Facebook’s mobile applications, is now available for desktop users. Stickers on the web work the same way they do on Facebook’s mobile apps.
To send a sticker from desktop, click on the smiley icon in your message module. Scroll across the top of the sticker window to find the pack you want to use. Click on the individual sticker you want to send. You can also explore more stickers through the basket icon that directs you to a Sticker store, which also features other fun characters.
The Sticker store also features the Despicable Me 2 stickers that Facebook recently added. These stickers are currently available for free.
Facebook had launched the Stickers in April, first rolled out to its Messenger and Facebook apps for iOS and Android. Stickers, unlike the regular emoticons, are larger, elaborate and character-driven.
While Stickers are supposed to make messaging on the social network more fun, the feature is also believed to help bring out more revenues, as the company attempted with Despicable Me 2-branded stickers. Facebook is likely to soon team up with popular studios as well as artists for similar branded Stickers.
Apart from the Stickers, Facebook is reportedly working on a new Host Chat messaging feature, reminiscent of the old AOL chat rooms. The Host Chat ‘stimulates’ viral discussions among friends and allows users to add their friends into the chat rooms.
Facebook’s recent updates to its messaging section comes amid growing popularity of other free instant messaging/chatting applications such as WhatsApp, Line and Viber. It’s notable Google has further intensified the segment with its unified messaging system Hangouts.
