Elon Musk has threatened to ban Apple devices from all his companies due to the newly announced OpenAI integrations that Apple revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024.

On X (formerly Twitter), Musk said that “if Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level,” Apple devices will be banned at his companies. He also said that the visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they’ll be stored in “a Faraday cage.”

In a post, Elon Musk said that it is “patently absurd” that Apple is not “smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!”

He also mentioned that Apple has no idea what happens to your data once it’s handed over to OpenAI and “they’re selling you down the river.”

In response to VC and CTO Sam Pullara at Sutter Hill Ventures, who noted that users approve specific requests on a per-request basis and that OpenAI does not have access to the device, Musk wrote, “Then leave it as an app. This is bullshit.”

Meanwhile, replying to a post from popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee that explained Apple Intelligence, X-owner said, “Apple using the words ‘protect your privacy’ while handing your data over to a third-party AI that they don’t understand and can’t themselves create is *not* protecting privacy at all!”

Elon Musk even replied to a post by Apple CEO Tim Cook, threatening to ban Apple devices from the premises of his companies if Cook didn’t “stop this creepy spyware.”
