Corel invites budding artists to Asia-Pacific Digital Art Competition 2010 – net prizes worth $50,000

Corel Corporation, a leading developer of graphics, productivity and digital media software, unveiled the Corel Asia-Pacific Digital Art Competition 2010 yesterday. The competition spanning about 4 months is proposed to run through August 31st , 2010. It is said to feature more than 150 prizes whose net worth is over US$40,000, along with a Grand Prize worth more than US$10,000.

The competition is quoted to incorporate both Open and Student categories and include entrants from Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Winners are scheduled to be announced on October 15, 2010 and are expected to be featured on the Corel website.

Entries for the competition are expected to be static images or videos and must be produced using Corel software. Contest submissions need to be posted on the Corel website during the period of the competition, where website visitors are deemed to help determine the winners by voting. Winners are supposed to be chosen based on popularity voting and opinions from a distinguished panel of judges.

Visitors to the competition website are invited to win prizes by voting for their favourite entries, passing information to their friends and by creating hyperlinks to the competition on websites and blogs. It is reported that a competition Facebook page is dedicated to enable entrants to share information and promote their entries.
