Is Claude down today: Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude is facing an outage in several parts of the world, including India and the United States. Primarily, many users reported issues during conversations with Claude Chat and noticed problems in Claude Code. Some others are facing in-app issues. The problems (around 85 per cent combined) are mostly centred on the app and Chat. A few issues are also being reported on Claude AI’s web version.
SurveyAccording to user reports on the outage tracking platform Downdetector, the disruption peaked in India at around 8:00 PM today (September 29) with over 900 reports. In the US, the peak reports were registered at around 07:40 PM IST with 9,000+ reports. In India, users reported issues from major cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and more.
Claude down today: Anthropic responds
Anthropic has acknowledged the issue and said it is investigating the “elevated error rates” affecting Claude services, according to Reuters. And it appears the AI company has applied a fix, as disruption reports have subsided. Claude services appear to be working fine now.
