Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse 2026 India timings
As confirmed by the astronomical data, the partial phase of the eclipse will start at 3:20 PM IST followed by the totality, when the Moon turns deep reddish at 4:34 PM. The eclipse will reach its peak at 5:03 PM, with totality ending at 5:32 PM. The partial phase concludes at 6:48 PM, and the penumbral phase wraps up by 7:53 PM.
Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse 2026: Where it will be visible
In the Northeast and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, cities including Guwahati and Itangar are said to witness the Moon rising during totality, offering the most dramatic view. Eastern cities such as Kolkata and Bhubaneswar may catch the closing partial stages for close to an hour.
In Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai, the Moon is expected to rise near the end of the event, limiting viewing time to about 20-30 minutes. Due to the late moonrise, parts of western India, including Gujarat, may see little to no eclipse.

Since the eclipse coincides with Holi, the discussions about the ritual timings in some communities have started. Traditionally, the Sutak period is believed to begin nine hours before the eclipse, starting at 6:20 AM on March 3.
