Bing search will now highlight Klout-verified snapshots, to showcase profiles based on users LinkedIn and Twitter id's.
Snapshots on Bing will include public portions of your Linked-in profile as well as your best moments on social networking sites like Instagram and Twitter along with your Klout score.
The initial implementation will show Klout scores for friends in the “People Who Know” section of the right-hand column. The snapshots will contain useful information about people, topics, places and will give quick information at a glance in small boxes.
This move by Klout and Microsoft will give users more control over information that appears about them on search. Klout users who have Wikipedia entries associated with their accounts will get Klout score boosts bases on the number of times their entries show up in search.
In a blog post announcing the new feature, Klout said, “Search is one of the most common ways that information about you is discovered by other people. Snapshots on Bing enable anyone who signs up to verify and manage how they appear in Bing search results, based on their public social network profiles. You’ll now be able to easily share your professional accomplishments and highlights, as well as your most influential moments on Instagram and Twitter, when people search for you on Bing.”
Klout is a social ranking website that uses analytics to study a users reach over social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even Flickr and gives you a score between 1 and 100. The more profiles you tie to your Klout profile the more accurate the scoring becomes.
