Apple is partnering with renewable energy developer CleanMax to develop more than 150 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity in the country.
Apple has announced new environmental initiatives in India, including the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure, reducing plastic waste and supporting green startups. As part of the plan, the company will invest Rs 100 crore to help expand renewable energy capacity in the country. Apple said that the new initiatives are part of its larger goal of becoming carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030.
SurveyThe iPhone maker is partnering with renewable energy developer CleanMax to develop more than 150 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity in the country. According to Apple, this amount of energy is enough to power nearly 1.5 lakh Indian households every year. The company also hinted that the partnership could grow further in the coming years.
For those unaware, Apple previously worked with CleanMax on rooftop solar projects for its offices and retail stores in the country.

‘At Apple, our commitment to the environment is also a driving force for innovation- across the company and around the world,’ said Sarah Chandler, Apple’s vice president of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation. ‘We’re proud to expand our efforts to invest in India’s clean energy economy and protect the country’s precious natural resources.’
Apart from renewable energy, Apple is also focusing on reducing plastic pollution in India. The company is working with WWF-India to support recycling and waste management projects. These projects aim to improve the collection, sorting, and recycling of plastic waste while preventing it from entering nearby ecosystems.
Apple is also supporting green entrepreneurs through a partnership with Acumen. The company will provide catalytic grants to six startups working in areas such as waste management, regenerative agriculture, and circular economy and consumption. ‘The program provides mentorship, strategic guidance, technical assistance, and network access to help social entrepreneurs validate promising business models and put them on a path to scale,’ the tech giant explained.
