iOS 26.4.1 update fixes:

This comes after many users flagged the use that surfaced in iOS 26.4 and impacted apps relying on Apple’s CloudKit framework. As a result, changes made on one device were not consistently reflected on others and that led to delays or failures in syncing data across iPhones and iPads. The developers also flagged the problem earlier, stating that there was little that they could do until Apple issued a system-level fix for it.

This did not just affect third-party applications such as note-taking tools but also extended to Apple’s own services. The features like shared passwords within the Passwords app, which depend on the CloudKit infrastructure, were also impacted by the syncing failure.

Now, with the rollout of iOS 26.4.1, Apple seems to have fixed the issue of restoring normal syncing behaviour across devices. The users who experienced problems are advised to update their devices via the Software Update section in Settings. The bug was also present in iPadOS 26.4, though macOS Tahoe 26.4 remained unaffected.

iOS 26.5 release timeline and feature

The next Apple update, iOS 26.5, is said to be released in mid-May 2026. The public beta of the device is already live and the users who have enrolled in Apple’s beta programme have already received the fix. The update will also bring some key features like new Suggested Places in Apple Maps, new search ads in Maps and re-enabled end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging.
