If you’ve been planning to buy a new Xbox console or accessories, now might be the right time to make your move. Microsoft has announced a major price hike across its Xbox hardware lineup, and the increases are not small. From consoles to controllers and even some games, everything is getting more expensive.
SurveyThis price increase will impact gamers around the world, and Microsoft says it’s doing this to deal with growing market challenges and higher production costs.

- Xbox Series S 1TB: was $350, now $430
- Xbox Series X Digital: was $450, now $550

Why Microsoft is increasing the prices
Microsoft says the decision comes after “careful consideration” of market conditions and rising cost of development. Although the company didn’t explicitly cite President Trump’s tariffs, rising inflation and higher production costs appear to be key contributors. Simply put, making and selling these products has become costlier, and that’s being passed on to the customers.

The bad news doesn’t stop there. Microsoft has also announced that starting this holiday season, some new first-party Xbox games will be priced at $79.99. However, games bought from the Xbox Store will still support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing you to play them on both console and PC at no additional cost.
With these price hikes, Xbox gamers will need to adjust their budgets if they plan to upgrade or expand their gaming setups. If you’re looking to snag an Xbox console, controller, or game, it may be worth acting sooner rather than later.
