The House of the Spirits: Plot
Set across three generations of the Trueba family in an unidentified Latin American nation, the series shows how their lives change over many years during times of political trouble.
At the center is Clara, a woman who can see the future. She writes everything about her family’s happy and sad moments in her notebooks. Her husband, Esteban, is a strict and powerful man who cares a lot about land and control, which later causes many problems.

As time passes, the family’s story becomes closely connected to what is happening in their country. The story moves from their magical home life to a harsh reality of revolution and a military takeover.
In the end, their granddaughter Alba becomes important. She goes through great suffering in prison but survives. By bringing together what she herself knows about the world with that of her grandmother, she attempts to make sense of the past and build a brighter future.
