Here’s Microsoft’s newest app for platforms that aren’t Windows. The new Android app, known as the Hub Keyboard, is Microsoft’s take on the Android keyboard. It comes from the experimental Microsoft Garage project, and gives users quick access to Office files, contacts, local clipboard and even a translation tool. Interestingly, the company also own SwiftKey, one of the most popular keyboards amongst Android users.

The Hub Keyboard has a small bar on the top, which allows access to information that is in some other app on your phone. So, you can grab the information without actually opening the app. For example, you can search for a contact and insert their phone number into whatever you’re typing, or use the translate option to translate what you’re typing, in English, to other languages.

Microsoft also made a keyboard for iPhones recently, which replicates the company’s own WordFlow keyboard from Windows on Apple’s OS. The Redmond, Calif. based technology giant though gave an innovative twist to the keyboard, allowing easy single handed usage.
