Google has updated its Photos app for iOS to version 1.8.0 and it now supports Live Photos and Split View. This version also also comes with performance enhancements, improved menu navigation, support for the iPad Pro, and reduced cache use in the event the device is low on storage space. In addition, those using the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus can now backup and view Live Photos on the app.
Live Photos was introduced with the Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and captures a few seconds of video before and after taking a picture. Split view mode will allow iPad users to use Google’s Photos app alongside other apps. The service was unveiled at the Google I/O developer conference last year and offers unlimited free storage for photos and videos. The service allows users to store images of up to 16MP at full resolution, while videos up to 1080p can be stored for free. It also allows users to create movies, animations, collages, quickly.
