It could also deploy these onto servers operated by third parties.
Apple has been taking its sweet time integrating AI with its products. The company just hosted its much anticipated ‘Let Loose’ event and finally stepped into the AI game. The California-based tech giant unveiled its much-awaited and advanced M4 chipset. Ever since then, fans have been really excited about what all Apple will bring in terms of AI during the upcoming WWDC in June. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Apple will first use its M2 Ultra chips housed in data centres before transitioning completely to M4 for its AI endeavours.
We all know that Apple will make big moves in the space of AI pretty soon. A lot of AI features are expected with iOS 18. A new Bloomberg report reveals that Apple is planning to use its M2 Ultra chips first on cloud servers specifically for handling intricate AI queries. Speaking of simpler tasks, it will continue to process them directly on devices.

This wasn’t always the plan. Apple was earlier working on a Project ACDC (Apple Chips in Data Center) to develop custom chips to ensure security and privacy in data centres, according to The Wall Street Journal. But now reports reveal that Apple has put a hold on that project and feels that existing processors possess adequate security and privacy features.

What is the plan of action of Apple?
So moving forward, Apple plans on integrating these chips first into its own data centres. In the future, it could also deploy these onto servers operated by third parties. For those unaware, Apple has its own servers across the United States and is constructing a new facility in Waukee, Iowa.
