Realme XT to sport 64MP sensor in quad-camera setup.

The phone will launch in September.

Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has revealed the name of the company’s upcoming smartphone that comes with a 64MP camera sensor. He said that the phone will be called the Realme XT and will launch in September. The Realme XT is the same phone whose camera technology was showcased earlier this month. The handset will sport a vertically-aligned quad-camera setup with the module placed in the top left corner of the back panel. Sheth confirmed the development at the launch event of the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro.

Previously, Sheth had announced that Realme is developing a phone with Samsung’s Bright GW1 sensor and this phone is expected to debut in India before launching in other markets. The sensor has a resolution of 64MP and uses the company’s ISOCELL technology to capture images. Launched by Samsung Semi Conductors in May this year, this smartphone imaging sensor is capable of 4-pixel binning to yield 16-megapixel binned images.

The ISOCELL Bright GW1 features the highest resolution in Samsung’s 0.8μm-pixel image sensor lineup. It is equipped with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and remosaic algorithm that lets it produce 16MP images in low-light environments and “highly-detailed” 64MP shots in brighter settings, Samsung said when it launched the sensor. Moreover, Redmi is also working on a phone with the Bright GW1 sensor.

The quad-camera setup has an ultra-wide camera on top, followed by the 64MP primary camera, then a macro lens and the fourth lens could be a depth sensor to aid in portrait photos. Realme says that the ultra-wide lens can offer a 119-degree wide field of view. The macro lens can shoot photos as close as 4 centimeters.
