Samsung recently launched its flagship Samsung Galaxy S24 series. This lineup includes three smartphone models: the Samsung Galaxy S24, the Samsung Galaxy S24+, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

While it was initially uncertain whether this capability would extend to older Galaxy devices, Samsung has now confirmed that the feature will be available for existing phones and tablets, reports SamMobile.

A Samsung Community Forum moderator has disclosed the company’s intention to extend the Instant Slow-Mo feature, initially introduced with the Galaxy S24, to previous high-end devices.
The new feature will be available on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Additionally, the moderator unveiled Samsung’s plans to enhance this feature in upcoming updates. These enhancements include adding support for 10-bit videos (currently restricted to 8-bit), 480p resolution videos (currently limited from 720p to 8K), and the .mov video file format (currently limited to .mp4 files).
Samsung clarified that the Instant Slow-Mo feature needs a powerful GPU and NPU, which is why it will exclusively extend the feature to phones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer high-end chipsets. The company emphasised that the feature requires a response time of 16.6ms for 60fps videos, a speed reliably achievable only on newer high-end phones.
The feature is expected to be included in the upcoming One UI 6.1 update. As per the company’s prior announcement, the One UI 6.1 update is scheduled for release on existing eligible smartphones and tablets by the end of the first half of 2024.
