Guerilla Games has announced a sequel to Horizon Forbidden West

No launch date has been announced

Horizon Forbidden West is currently a PS5 exclusive

Well, it looks like one of the most overrated games of all time is getting a sequel. Horizon Forbidden West will see another game in the series. One of the few Sony exclusives on the PS5, the game was praised by critics but trashed by the fans for being a by-the-numbers collectathon with a nonsensical story. In fact, on a personal note, the game is nothing but fancy graphics. The gameplay is tepid and feels very unintuitive. To be fair, Zero Dawn was no great feat of gaming either so know that mediocre is what Guerilla Games is all about. The company announced the departure of studio director Angie Smets and names her replacements.

Horizon Forbidden West sequel is in development

In a statement Guerilla Games stated, “We have full confidence in our new leadership as they steer Guerrilla towards a bright future, expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy's next adventure and our exciting online project.”. I fail to see what other garbage these guys are going to pull out of the behinds. The story in Forbidden West is an absolute mess. It commits the cardinal sin of being boring. Aloy as a character is one of the worst in gaming history and personally, I cannot understand how PlayStation have pushed such a cookie-cutter protagonist as one of the faces of the console. Truly puzzling.

There has been DLC launched for Forbidden West but it’s lucked behind story progression. The content has come under fire for the right reasons. It's a money grab, plain and simple. It costs $20 USD for about 3 to 4 hours of actual content. You’re still saddled with the terrible controls and animations with a fresh coat of paint. The game itself is still a boring collectathon with annoying characters and even more tedious gameplay. If you’re a fan of these games, god for you but objectively, Horizon Forbidden West is a shallow, empty and ultimately boring experience.
