2mpower Health Management Services has launched GetActive tapp, a Bluetooth enabled personal health and activity tracker for Rs 4,999. The fitness tracker is available exclusively on e-commerce retailer Myntra.

The GetActive tapp fitness tracker monitors your daily physical activity like steps taken in a day, calories burnt, distance covered in 'km', and non-sedentary time spent. The tracker uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate automatically with mobile phones. The device can be synced with a smartphone to deliver fitness statistics. GetActive will also provide points for every step taken that can be redeemed in GetActive's partner ecosystem.

“Our goal is to create an active India, where individuals walk towards their well being. Today, 10 million steps are clocked everyday on GetActive platform. Our aim is to increase this count to 100 billion steps in the next 30 months,” said Mohammed Hussain Naseem, founder and CEO of 2mpower Health Management Services, which owns GetActive. "Currently we have 15,000 users who have become our advocates. Our goal is to increase this number to 100,000 with the launch of the app", he added.

2mpower Health Management Services is backed by former Infosys board member and chairman of Manipal Global Education Mohandas Pai. “Wearable technology has seen good traction in the US markets and rates high in the mind of Indian consumers. I see an immense opportunity in this sector,” Mohandas Pai said.

India's wearable industry is expected to grow from Rs 50 crore in 2014 to Rs 2,500 crore by 2018. The segment is expected to cross the $8-billion mark in the next four years in the US. The GetActive tapp will compete with Xiaomi Mi Band which is expected to be launched in India later this year.
