Reliance Jio announces ‘buy one get one free recharge’ offer for Prime subscribers
HIGHLIGHTS

Reliance Jio's 'buy one get one free recharge' offer gives extra 5GB free data worth Rs. 201 to users buying the new Rs. 303 monthly plan.

Reliance Jio has added a new, limited period 'buy one get one free recharge' offer to woo customers to subscribe to Jio Prime. Under this 'buy one get one free recharge' offer, users buying the new Rs. 303 monthly plan will get an extra 5GB of free data worth Rs. 201. The offer gives 10GB of additional free data to those subscribing with the Prime pack worth Rs. 499, or higher.

The offer was first spotted by Twitter user Sanjay Bafna. The tweet says that the free add-on pack will be automatically added by the company. To recall, the company recently announced new Jio Prime membership which allows users to keep their free voice and data plans until March 31, 2018. To get extended benefits, users will have to subscribe to a Prime plan worth Rs. 303, or higher.

Jio Prime allows users to continue enjoying unlimited voice calls and data with fair usage policy of 1GB per day until March 31, 2018. The company has also announced a Rs. 499 plan that bumps the fair data usage to 2GB per day. Reliance Jio's Prime subscription is applicable for both existing users and those subscribing to Jio 4G before March 31, 2017.

Reliance Jio has been under pressure from its peers, with Vodafone, Idea and Airtel reducing the cost of their data plans. The companies have also started offering free voice calling and roaming to their subscribers. While Jio claims to be a data-first network, its speeds haven't been consistent and Airtel has toppled the service with an average 4G speed of 11.862Mbps in January.

Reliance Jio's new offer can be seen as a move to retain most of the 100 million subscribers already using the service. The Prime subscription plan comes into effect from April 1, 2017.
