Furthermore, this launch has also placed BSNL with the other major private telecom companies, such as Bharti Airtel and Jio, which offer Voice over Wi-Fi services and have been doing this for a while now. This service enables consumers to place and receive calls as well as send messages via Wi-Fi as opposed to mobile communication services.

The VoWiFi service is now available for all BSNL customers, and this is a major milestone for the firm, considering the efforts it has made to improve its network. According to the government-owned telecom firm, the VoWiFi service will prove to be quite useful for customers living in rural India, as the strength of the cellular signal is weak. In these regions, customers have difficulties accessing either call or internet services, and now, they can use the Wi-Fi connection to have clear call conversations.

Moreover, this technology will also enable calls and messages to be forwarded to and from a stable Wi-Fi, such as BSNL Bharat Fibre or other broadband connectivity, and not via mobile towers. This will enable uninterrupted calls and messages in residences, offices, basements, and other areas where mobile signal connectivity may not be very good. The service will also enable seamless handover from mobile to Wi-Fi and vice versa.

One of the major benefits of BSNL’s VoWiFi service is that it doesn’t require any special applications. Users can make as well as receive phone calls with the regular dialler of the phone. This implies that customers don’t incur any extra costs. Additionally, the service increases network capacity because it reduces network congestion. This service is advantageous because it is beneficial to customers as well as BSNL.
