AMD releases three new Phenom II processors – X4 975 BE, X4 840, and X6 1065T
AMD has introduced three new Phenom II processors, just a day after it officially its first Fusion Accelerated Processing Units (APU) – the C (Ontario) and E (Zacate) series of the AMD Brazos platform.
[RELATED_ARTICLE]The three new Phenom II processors occupy interesting positions in AMD’s desktop lineup, and the first two were spoken about by AMD as far back September 2010.
The AMD Phenom II X4 975 BE becomes the flagship quad-core processor @ 3.6GHz, and the AMD Phenom II X6 1065T finds its way near the bottom of the six-core pack, at promising lowered power consumption at 95W.
The third, the AMD Phenom II X4 840, is strangely placed and represents the first in the resurrected Phenom II 800 series. While bearing no L3 cache, just like a quad-core Athlon II, the Phenom II X4 840 @3.2GHz is faster than the flagship Athlon II 645, and costs less.
