Xiaomi’s second announcement of this week is a price cut on the Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone.

Xiaomi has announced a permanent price drop on its Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone since the company has sold over 1 crore units of the handset in India since it was launched. The price drop on the phone is the second of the company’s five surprise announcements that are happening this week to celebrate Xiaomi’s five years in India. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is now available for 12,999, down from its previously listed price of Rs 13,999. The 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model of the handset is now priced at Rs 13,999, down from its previously listed price of Rs 15,999. The phone will be available with discounted pricing via all online and offline retail channels. 

The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in India back in February last year. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC, coupled with options of selecting between 4GB or 6GB RAM. It features a 5.99-inch full-HD display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio and was launched running on Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 and it is speculated to soon receive the MIUI 10 build based on Android 9 Pie. The device comes with a dual-rear camera setup with a 12MP + 5MP sensors with an f/2.2 and f/2.0 aperture respectively. On the front, the phone sports a 20MP sensor with an LED flash. The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery. 

As mentioned above, this is Xiaomi’s second declaration, out of a total of five announcements that will be made this week.  The first announcement was regarding a price cut on the Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphone. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version of the smartphone is now up for sale at Rs 13,999, down from its previous listed prices of 15,999. The 6GB + 128GB version of the phone will also be discounted and will be up for sale at Rs 15,999, down from Rs 18,999. The 4GB and 6GB RAM versions of the phones were initially launched at Rs 16,999 and Rs 19,999 respectively.
